Updated August 17 to add Bruce mowing and sunset picture.
Yesterday (Wednesday, August 13), Bruce drove me to my four week follow-up for my cataract surgery.
Dark clouds loomed to the north as we drove along River Road.

Once we crossed the Singing River Bridge, we could see a wall of water ahead of us. We had to drive into the downpour. It lightened up to a nice steady rainfall by the time we got to the doctor’s office.
The doctor said my eye looked great and it was completely healed. My eye pressure was 14, which was back to normal.
The rain had stopped, so we stopped at Home Depot to get some more marble chips for our riprap around the driveway drainage pipe.
I was happy to see that it had rained out our way as we headed home.

The no-name creek that flooded our front yard, runs into Shegog Creek, which runs into McKiernan Creek. McKiernan Creek is affected by the level of water in Wilson Lake.
Once we were home, I called Costco to ask about the price of their glasses lenses. Their best lens, Hi Index with progressive and transition, was $219, less than twice the price of $475 Walmart quoted. It was worth a drive to Madison, Alabama, to get the glasses at Costco. I need three pairs of glasses: normal day-wearing glasses, driving sunglasses, and computer glasses.
It had rained at the house and as we were about to head outside, it started raining again.
It stopped raining in the evening. We took this as an opportunity to walk around the yard. I realized I hadn’t taken a picture of the wild persimmon in a while.

Today (Thursday, August 14), Bruce drove to the Madison, AL Costco.

I got three pairs of glasses for $592. The frames were $90, $80, and $65. The driving sunglasses were the most expensive pair. I got $50 off each on the second and third pair of glasses. At the latest, the glasses will be here in ten days. They may get here sooner. I hope they’ll get here sooner.
We had lunch at a Korean restaurant and shopped at the Asian supermarket in the strip mall. I love looking at ingredients I’ve never seen before. They had several different types of fresh Asian mustards.
We headed home. Once home, I took Nox outside while Bruce brought in the groceries. After a quick stop, Nox was ready to get out of the heat.

We head out to an estate sale. I hoped to get some more mason jars for canning and preserving food. We got there early enough to snatch up 32 jars, at $.25 plus tax. What a deal! I had hoped to get the sundial shown in the pictures, but someone beat us to it. I did spend some time looking at sewing goods and kitchen goods, but left without buying any. I was tempted by some of the pans and pie plates.
Once home, Bruce carried in the jars.
I had planned to do some yard work, but with the temperature in the high 90s, I decided staying inside was a better option.
The sky had pretty clouds, though.

Bruce did go out and start mowing.

We got a pretty sunset with fireflies.

A side note: My father-in-law’s one-week follow-up for his surgery was good. They are letting him move his arm from his waist to his face.
Congratulations on the good follow up visit! Will you have to have the other eye done soon, or is it not ready?
Costo sure has good prices on glasses. Hope they come soon so you can enjoy looking at all your pretty plants and butterflies!

My other eye is not ready. I had a macular hole in my right eye and the surgery to repair the hole caused a cataract to develop much sooner than normal. The doctors consider that my right eye experienced trauma. My left eye is not even close to needing cataract surgery. The doctor is predicting ten years before I’ll need surgery on the left eye.
Costco has great prices on glasses! I am really looking forward to getting my new glasses.

I am glad your cataract surgery went so well. It will be nice when you have all your new glasses. We first got a Costco membership due to the cheap prices for glasses, although the selection is smaller than other places. We got back from a 2 week RV vacation to Yellowstone and the Tetons, so I am way behind again on writing and reading blog posts.

Thank you! The price differential at Costco for glasses is extreme. It is worth the cost of the membership. I love Yellowstone and the Tetons. They are such beautiful and amazing places!
