Front Field AKA the Front Meadow

April 19, 2026

We got three weeping willows delivered by FedEx on Friday (April 17). We plan to put them in the front field aka the front meadow.

We walk around the front field to get a rough idea of where the trees would go. We didn’t want them to be too close to the overhead wires.

We enjoyed walking through the field of flowers. The lavender blooms on the lyreleaf sage spikes, floating above the white clover blooms, are captivating!

We let the field plants grow to allow bees and other pollinators to find food.

After we had the general idea of where to place the trees, Bruce decided to mow the front yard.

I picked up sticks and branches so they would be out of the mower’s (Bruce’s) way.

While Bruce was mowing, it occurred to me that before we planted the willow trees, we should get our utilities checked. I don’t want to plant a tree on top of the water line or gas line.

I watered the garden beds that I had planted seeds in.

Everything Is Tilted

I walked around looking at various plants on Blackberry Homestead. I enjoyed looking at the plants and seeing how much they have grown.

Once Bruce finished mowing and came inside, I told him that finding out where the utility lines are could prevent problems for future Bruce and Julia. He agreed, so I called 811. I spoke to a nice lady who was very helpful. We now have the date for finding our lines set.

The sunset was lovely.
