When You Want To Sleep in Your New House But Don’t Have Bedroom Curtains, a Trashy Solution

October 17, 2024

I spent a good bit of the day at the RV doing laundry. I also went through my kitchen drawers and cabinets to decide what else I should bring to the house.

Around 4:00 PM, I headed to Blackberry Homestead. Once here, I took Nox inside, then got her bed along with food and water bowls. That’s right, Nox gets to use her “real” food and water bowls at the house.

I brought a travel bag of clothes. We already have soap, shampoo and conditioner here.

I brought Command Hooks, the type that hang from the ceiling, from the RV. I also brought a set of sheets. My plan was to hang the Command Hooks, then clip the sheets to the hooks.

When I went to throw away some trash, I realized I didn’t need to use sheets, I could use the large trash bags to cover the windows. The trash bags would be fine to use after we get some real curtains.

Feel free to laugh now, ya’ll.

I put away all the items I bought from my RV kitchen.

Bruce called me with an update on the truck. The service manager, who is also a diesel mechanic, felt bad for Bruce and decided to take a look at the truck. After taking a look, he called Bruce to let Bruce know that both batteries were actually bad.

The original guy only checked voltage. The service manager checked load.

We may be lucky and it is only batteries the truck needs. Those batteries are almost five years old. Bad batteries fit the symptoms. If it is just batteries, Bruce expects to be home tomorrow.

I got a text from the Home Depot delivery department. The range will be delivered tomorrow between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM. I am very excited about getting the induction range.

Nox tried out the new bed. It is smaller than the Olympic queen (super queen) we have in the RV. She seemed surprised at the lack of space between me and the side.

When I took Nox to her bed, I had the realization that I didn’t know where all the light switches were.

I am lying in bed writing this on my phone. I’ve got the head section raised and I find it works well for reading. I’ve got the massage running and it feels lovely.

I miss reading lights behind the bed. They work great at the RV. I also realized I am going to have to get up to turn off the light. In the RV, I often turn off the lights from the phone app. I had no idea just how spoiled I am.

The floor in the house is chilly. I had gotten use to the warm floor in the RV. Our pass through storage (basements) are heated, so the floor is warm. I need a good pair of slippers.

I can’t adjust the temperature settings on the thermostat from bed either. It feels cold to me, so I am going to get up and adjust it..

I turned the thermostat up to 68 degrees F and turned the light off on the into the bedroom.

I lowered the head of the bed. I can still see the phone screen and I am using that light.

The bed has two USB ports on each side. It is nice to be able to plug the phone in to charge.
