On Christmas Day, my FIL started feeling unwell later in the day. He still wanted us to go to his friend’s house for Christmas dinner. His friend sent us home with a plate of prime rib, mashed potatoes, homemade horseradish, au jus, and asparagus. On a small plate, she also sent a cheesecake with sour cherries in a thick syrup. Unfortunately, my FIL didn’t feel like eating. He wasn’t able to eat because he was feeling nauseated.
My SIL and her son drove most of Christmas to get here on the 26th. My FIL didn’t look good. We (Bruce and I) had tried to convince him to go to the hospital or urgent care. He didn’t want to go. My SIL was able to convince him to go. They didn’t find anything wrong, which is very worrying. 
Now on to something fun. My SIL brought her dog, Lola. She is a funny looking dog with a full sized body and short legs. She is part dachshund.
Here is Nox, just hanging out.
Nox and Lola are getting along, but since Lola is much bigger than Nox. A few times Nox got scared and growled at Lola. Lola, being a good dog, backed off, and Nox was happy. If Nox were in better shape (not having a bum shoulder), I think she would play with Lola. Lola is used to cats and seems to treat Nox like one.

My father-in-law is feeling a lot better today. He was able to eat some chicken soup today.

He is feeling better today. I am so relieved that he is able to eat some soup today.

I appreciate how frustrating it is when a loved goes to the ER or urgent care only to be told the doctors didn’t find anything. I mean, it’s good news but it’s also not good news since any answer is always better than not knowing what’s going on. Hope he feels better soon. I have to admit when I saw your post title I started humming the 1970 Kinks song “Lola.” Ai yai, yai…55 years ago. I remember the words to the song but forgot what I had for lunch. Lola is a real cutie. What a combo.

Yes, I am so relieved he is feeling better today. I hope it was just a stomach bug and not anything serious.
Bruce started singing Lola when Lola came in the door!

Sorry to hear that your FIL is feeling poorly. It is hard when you don’t know what is wrong. Glad you got to spend some time with your SIL and that Nox got to have a friend to play with!
