A Date Night: Dinner and a Show

April 28, 2026

Least you think Bruce and I work all the time every day, we do know how to have fun.

On Tuesday (April 21), I had a neurologist doctor’s appointment. After my appointment, Bruce and I went to Senor Tequila in downtown Florence, AL for dinner. We sat upstairs, enjoying the ambiance and the delicious food. I had the yummy shrimp empanada and Bruce found the chapuzon to be delectable. The chapuzon consists of sauteed octopus, tiger shrimp, and mahi mahi in a spicy red sauce. It came with coconut rice, mango relish, and toasted bread.

The previous week, I saw an ad in the paper for Henry Cho’s Comedy Show on April 21. Bruce and I enjoy Henry Cho’s comedy routines, so I asked Bruce if he wanted to go. Bruce thought it would be fun, so I brought two tickets.

The doors opened at 6:15 PM, so we had plenty of time to finish our dinner and even linger at the table talking for a bit.

After dinner, we walked to the nearby Shoals Community Theatre. We arrived before the doors opened.

We waited in line, chatting with each other and other folks waiting in line. The mood was very upbeat and lively.

Once inside, we found ourselves in a lobby with concession stands. Drinks were being sold as well as some snacks.

Around 6:30 to 6:45 PM, the doors to the theater seating opened. We had balcony seats, the very top row. Nosebleed seats, as Bruce called them.

There was an opening act and I can’t remember his name. He was funny and we enjoyed his routine.

When Henry Cho came out, he got a loud round of applause. He was very funny. The entire theater was laughing so hard he had to pause to let the laughter die down before he could continue.

After the show, we waited for most of the crowd to clear before we headed to the car, holding hands.

We had a lot of fun! I will be checking to see what other events are offered at the Shoals Theater.

Here’s a screenshot of The Shoals Theater website to provide a little bit of history.

  1. There is nothing better than lots of laughing! It can make you feel so good! I hadn’t heard of Henry Cho, but I will definitely keep him in mind. I looked at his upcoming shows, but none work out for us right now. I am glad you had such a fun evening!

  2. Soooooo effn cool, and I used to go to comedy clubs in LA quite often, but I never got to see Cho however I did see Bobby Lee. The worst part, a mother and daughter thought I was him, and I don’t think we look anything alike. To make it worse, another dude came out and yelled and pointed at me and said “Bobby Lee”… then, “oh you’re not him.” The mom and daughter, they weren’t even phased, and they kept believing 😂😂😂

    1. Cho was great! We really enjoyed his routine! It was unexpected that he’d be in Florence, AL until I remembered his wife is from Arab, AL. When he makes jokes about Arab, he is 100% accurate.

As well as a fun evening of entertainment of comedy, you got a funny story as well. 😁
