After our lovely visit with the chambersontheroad.com in the Great Smoky Mountains, it was time to head back home.
On June 26 (Thursday), Bruce and I stopped in at the grab and go breakfast at the resort office, ate, packed up, carried everything out to the truck and took Nox for a walk. We checked out and started home.
We took a slightly different route home, through backroads before joining up with I-75. We retraced our route back from there. I missed taking the picture of the welcome sign for Georgia.

It was great to see the house. Bruce stopped just after turning into the driveway so I could hop down and check the mailbox. We did have some mail.
We got unpacked and headed out to the garden to see how it had fared. The garlic plant that I found in the yard when we moved in had died back.

My pole beans had skeletonized leaves from Japanese beetles. I found a very large zucchini hidden under the zucchini plant leaves. I was pleased to realize how big the watermelons are getting.
The cherry tomatoes had a few tomatoes ready.
The yard needed mowing, which wasn’t a surprise. Bruce started mowing and mowed the backyard. We like to keep the grass in the backyard short for Nox. Since she has lost so much of her sight, she will walk into tall plants stems in the backyard. This causes her to flinch and look around.
Sunset was pretty and we enjoyed the stunning show put on by the fireflies.

It was great to have taken a short break from the work we’d been doing on Blackberry Homestead and great to be back home!
Wow, the garden is really producing now!

It is! Now it is just a matter of dealing with the Japanese beetles and squash bugs.

I’m surprised the zucchini didn’t take over while you were gone! 😂

Your garden has really taken off! Glad you made it safely home. Sorry for the delay – I was unsubscribed – again! I hope it stops happening!

WordPress can be very annoying with some of the things it does.
