We rode the motorcycle along Hwy 72 to the Tennessee River, turning off into a parking lot that lead to Ashe Blvd. Once we started downhill on Ashe Blvd, we could see the parking lot for the old railway bridge.
We parked, took off our gear and looked around the parking lot.

We headed to the path and started to walk towards the old bridge.

At the beginning of the bridge is a mural, information on the Low Shore Trail and information about the double decker bridge.

We headed onto the bridge; we walked along enjoying the beautiful views of the Tennessee River.

After we got back to the beginning of the bridge, we walked down the stone steps to the riverbank.

The trail was shaded and cool, completely different from the sunny road. When we got home, I was dripping with sweat. (I was way past glowing.)
This is a beautiful area and worth the stop.
Nox was happy to see us.

Julia, An interesting bridge – thanks for sharing. The only other double decker bridge I can remember is the George Washington bridge between New York City and New Jersey. Love, Howard

This one was set up for trains on the top deck and automobiles on the lower deck. It was a fun walk and interesting to see. The bridge just stops about 2/3 across the river; it ends before the shipping channels.

That is a beautiful mural of the train–very realistic.

We are. We will heading to the factory next week to get the roof replaced and all the broken bits repaired.

When will you make a home in Alabama?

We close on the house on the 12th, then move some items out of the RV into the house. Once we get back from the factory, we’ll settle in. We’ll need to make a trip to Colorado to get our stuff out of storage.

So, in answer to your question, maybe by the beginning of October?
