Yesterday, the weather was lovely here, so we decided to take advantage of the hiking trails in the campground. The Flat Creek Family Campground has several hiking trails throughout the woods next to the campground. The trails are cleared and marked with blazes.
We walked Nox and took her back to the RV a before we headed out onto the trails.
We first followed the trail down to the creek and we discovered someone had placed large butterflies along the trails.

We crossed over the creek and decided to take the maroon trail. We hadn’t been on that trail before.
As we walked along the trail, we discovered it was sopping wet in places. Boards had been put down on the trail lengthwise. This was all fine and dandy until I stepped on a board that was on top of another board. The top board scooted forward and I fell backwards onto my butt into the mud.
Luckily, I didn’t reinjure my left ankle. I did twist my right knee a little, but by the end of the day, it was fine.
My knee felt okay enough for me to continue the hike.
We came to this bridge. I considered just turning around but after Bruce crossed it, I decided I could as well.

The maroon trail ended onto the red trail. The red trail was a bigger trail. It was lined with butterflies.

We took the yellow trail back to the campground. The woods smelled of honeysuckle.

Nox wasn’t that impressed when we came home. She looked up at us, as if to say, “oh, it’s you,” and put her head back down.
I went to toss my muddy clothes into the laundry when I discovered a tick on my shirt. Then I saw another tick on the shirt!
Bruce checked me over to make sure I didn’t have any on me. Fortunately, the ticks were only on my clothes.
Bruce was concerned and I looked for ticks on him. No ticks on Bruce. The ticks must’ve climbed onto me when I fell. It took a bit for me to get up out of the mud. There were some some small branches poking my back when I was trying to get my feet back under me.
I was happy to climb into the shower and get clean.
Yike! Those ticks ruin everything. And falling in the mud isn’t much fun either :

I had to tell myself several times, just ignore the wet and muddy bottom. You can take a shower when you get home.

Seems like a lot of things have been happening around there of late! At least you found the ticks quickly!

Yes, I am so glad they didn’t find my bare skin. I hate ticks.

I like the butterfly markers! That would make it easy to follow the trail.
Hopefully you didn’t suffer any ill effects from the fall!

I liked the butterfly markers as well. I should’ve just stayed on that path, it appeared to be dry!
No long term damage from the fall. It did make me think of the cartoons of slipping on a banana peel.
