Back from the Veterinary Hospital

February 26, 2024

After the vet examined Nox’s paw, she told us it looked like Nox had stepped on something that tore her pads.

Nox does have an infection and we were given antibiotics for her. The vet told us to give Nox the antibiotics with a tablespoon of plain yogurt with probiotics. The yogurt is to help her GI system so she doesn’t have problems from the antibiotics.

The vet told us to leave off the bandage while Nox is inside, but to put one on her when we take her for walks. We need to keep Nox’s foot clean. The vet also wants us to leave the cone of shame on Nox.

The vet said if it gets worse to contact the office right away.

On Friday, we need to take a picture of Nox’s foot and send it to them. Depending on how it looks, she may need more antibiotics.

I was worried Nox had something imbedded in her foot, that we couldn’t see. It is a relief to know she should heal up just fine.

  1. One thing I found that is a good trick is to take a small ziplock bag and twisty tie it around the top of the paw for short walks outside, this keeps the paw clean. I hope she feels better soon!

    1. Yes, she does. She woke me up at 2:00 am crying. She needed water and wanted me to take off her cone. Once she drank water, I started to go back to bed after putting her cone on. She started crying and wanted to be picked up. I stayed up with her for 30 minutes, holding her. That seemed to settle her down.

      1. Many a person has commented on how spoiled she is as Bruce or I carry back from a walk. She starts out excited to go, then her shoulder starts to hurt and she just doesn’t want to walk anymore. She stands up on her hind legs and leans against my legs as her sign to be carried.
