New Shock Installed

October 11, 2023

Today, I helped Bruce with the installation of the new shock. I didn’t do much. Bruce needed to lift the RV off the wheel enough to take off the rear utility side wheel to get to the top of the shock for installation.

I watched the RV wheel and yelled over to Bruce when it was off the ground. Bruce took the wheel off and while it was tight, he was able to reach the top of the shock to bolt it in place. I helped some by holding the shock while Bruce did some adjustments.

Bruce put the tire back on so the weight of the tire would pull the bottom of the suspension downward. It turned out that wasn’t enough to get the bottom half of the shock installed into its hole.

The bracket was bent upward from the cause of the original problem. Bruce bent the bottom bracket down so he could get the bottom of the shock into the hole. Once he was able to slip the bottom bolt of the shock in place, he was able to easily tighten the bottom nut.

Bruce then completed putting the tire back on and lowered the rig, then he torqued the tire lug nuts.

Bruce mentioned he’d love to soak in a hot tub for a bit, to help soak out the soreness from his back, shoulders, hand, and legs. To bad we don’t have one at this RV park.
