On July 12, around 3:30 am, we had a major thunderstorm come through the area. There was a loud boom, a loud bang and the RV shook.
Nox was panicking at our door, wining and scratching, so I opened the door and she leaped into my arms. She was so scared.
I put her on our bed and she ran up to Bruce’s face so she could be petted. Bruce petted her and told her she was a good dog. Nox was panting and very active.
Nox decided to walk to our feet and in the process slipped off the bed and landed with a thud. She didn’t cry, but we were so scared that she was hurt.
Bruce picked her up and held her. She didn’t seem to be hurt. This was the first time she fallen off the bed. We decided to bring her bed into the bedroom and let her sleep at the foot of the bed.
Later in the day, the rain cleared up in the afternoon, so we walked around the campground to see if we could spot any damage. We found a tree hit by lightning and fallen over at the farm next door.

No wonder the boom and crash was so loud. This was just 200 feet from us.

Poor little Nox! Give her some extra hugs from us.

I will do that. She was not a happy camper with that thunderstorm.

We usually have to let them in the room with us during a storm. They seem very sensitive to the noise and pick up on things we might not. Glad Nox was okay.

We were so relieved that she was okay as well. We were very upset that she slipped off the bed. It is taller than our couch.

That is scary (the tree having been rather close by). The evening of July 12th was a scare for me too as winds seemed to have been nearly hurricane force levels. Fortunately, I did a pretty good job of securing things outside and didn’t lose my patio umbrella like my neighbor.

Wow! I am glad you are okay and didn’t lose anything. Hurricane force winds are no joke. We experienced so very high winds (hurricane force) in Colorado.

It was a rather scary morning. We’ve always been nervous about leaving Nox on our bed, but to have her fall off was scary for us.

Poor Nox! Our dog would hide under the bed during loud thunderstorms, until her hearing was so bad she did not notice them anymore. We just had to put our little dog down last week. She was 15 1/2. It is a transition for us, but she had a long happy life and brought us much joy.

I am sorry for your loss. It is so hard to make the decision to put a beloved pet down.

Thank you. Yes very hard, but better to not let her suffer.
