May 24, 2026
On May 16, since I stupidly overdid the day before, I spent all day resting with only one walk outside.
Bruce took advantage of the cooler temperature to finish the cleanup of Pine Tree Two. He came in and got a shower. Afterwards, Bruce wanted me to see all the work he had completed. I walked to the back field. The amount of work Bruce completed was impressive.

Bruce was bragging how easy the tractor made it possible. He loves the tractor and is thrilled he bought it.
I took a couple of pictures as we walked around the orchard.

After Bruce saw the first Indigo Bunting, weāve seen two males in the backyard several times. I have yet to get a good picture of them. With my eyes, I can see them, and with the binoculars, I get a close-up view.
Bruce got a notice in the mail; the RAM dealership wanted to buy the truck. He contacted them and made an appointment for later in the day. Bruce went by himself since I didn’t feel like driving. We agreed that if he sold the truck, he could figure out how to get home.
The service department looked over the truck and offered $37,000 for it. We wanted at least $40,000. We had a dilemma, was $37,000 enough? One site Bruce had been looking at was offering $37,500. I said, āLetās sell the truck.ā The dealerās finance department was closed so they couldn’t buy the truck then. Bruce left with an offer, planing to go back on Monday.
When I discovered he hadnāt looked at the CarMax site, I suggested he look at it.
On May 17, after resting most of the day, I felt better than I did before my crazy overdoing it two days before.
Bruce looked on CarMax in the afternoon. They offered $40,400 for it. That was worth driving into Huntsville, AL, an hour and 12 minutes away (56 miles). Bruce asked me if I felt up to driving. āI think so. Let me check out the car seating before we try to go.ā It was fine, so Bruce drove the truck, and I drove the car. We made it there an hour before they closed. I didn’t have any discomfort while driving or waiting at CarMax. I didn’t feel tired either.
After the service department at CarMax looked over the truck, they agreed to buy the truck from us for $40,400. Yes! Fist pump! We sold Cliff the Big Red Truck. It was sad and happy at the same time.

Cliff the Big Red Truck was the last big part of our physical full-time RVing life. We have our memories full of stories and our pictures. We were happy to take him off our insurance. We hope heāll get a lot of use instead of sitting for long durations in our side yard.
To celebrate, we tried Sunhime Asian Bistro. I ordered egg rolls and three types of dim sum. Bruce ordered one of the Sushi Combos. Weāve been to great Asian restaurants in the past, but we were happy to have found a good restaurant in the area. I had been craving dim sum, and I was happy with the quality.
On the way home, I kept feeling we needed to get home to let Nox out. My head knows she is gone, but my heart still doesn’t fully know yet. Bruce said he felt the same way.
It was a very busy weekend for Bruce and a restful one for me.
š„²š¢. Selling a car hurts waaay more than you think it will. Why are we so attached to those things?!
Hmm, maybe this is not only a time to let go but a time to add. Perhaps itās time to check breeders and rescues? š

We canāt bring ourselves to get another dog yet. Nox was our best dog ever, though Bruce continues to think about stealing Peaches from our friends. š

How many miles did you guys put on Cliff during the RV days?

Around 56,000. Most of the time, we would take the motorcycle instead of Cliff when we wanted to see the sights.

That is a really good deal for a used truck. Although it looks brand new. You have taken good care of it!

We did keep up with the maintenance. As Bruce was cleaning up the interior to get ready to sell it, we found Nox’s nose prints on the door. Bruce had me inspect the interior to make sure he didnāt miss anything. He had missed the nose prints. There are funny little reminders of Nox in odd places.

That was big news, selling the truck! I’m glad you were happy with the price.

We felt it was a good deal. We may have been able to get a better price if we had sold it ourselves, but the price we did get was good enough for us to be happy.

But how will Bruce pull stumps without Red?!?

Hopefully, we won’t have any more half-pulled up stumps, so we can use a stump grinder on the stumps. I’m not sure about Pine Number Threeās root ball and stump.

Thanks! It was a good feeling to get the truck sold. The dim sum was only about 16 bites of food, just enough with the eggroll. I got a total of 12 dumplings (l was left with 10 dumplings after Bruce had two.) and 3 Lo Mai Gai (which were 2 bites of food each).

Wow I bet you are so glad you remembered to check CarMax. I am glad that worked out so well and you were able to drive the car without discomfort to close the deal.
