August 4, 2026
On August 1, 2026, in the morning and afternoon, Bruce and I did a lot of outdoor work.
In the evening, I saw this bird on the feeder. Using the picture, the Merlin app wasn’t able to identify the bird. When I used the step by step, I was able to find the bird. It is an Eastern Kingbird, which adds another bird to my life list.

You can see smoke in the background of the above picture.
The sunset was a brilliant pink.

With a fade to orange.

On August 2, while weeding the front flower garden, I came across a Variegated Fritillary caterpillar.

I came across a female Johnson’s jumping spider. It was a pretty little spider.

I made a lot of progress with the weeding.

I took some pictures of butterflies.

While I was weeding, Bruce was wielding the Kaiser blade to destroy the tall weeds growing on the Bama Pro Mix dirt pile.

After his slashing spree, Bruce started putting black garbage bags on the former potato bed. I wanted to kill the abundant weed seeds from the Bama Pro Mix using solar power! Bruce stop by the front yard and talked to me about the project. Bruce had run out of rocks to hold the trash bags down. I suggested he could use the wagon to move excavated rocks from the grassy knoll leveling project. Off he went with the wagon and I didn’t see him for a while.

More mowing was needed and the speed racer came out. Zoom, zoom on the mower!
Another beautiful sunset.
