On April 13 (Monday), Bruce reminded me I needed to call the surgeon’s office to get an appointment for my gallbladder removal. He was afraid I might put it off. He really doesn’t like seeing me in pain.
I called the surgeon’s office and spoke to the scheduling department. I was told that they needed to talk to the surgeon and she was out today. They promised to call me on Tuesday.
On April 14 (Tuesday), I got a call back from the surgeon’s office. My surgery is scheduled for May 6. She said I would need a pre-op the week before. She wanted to schedule the pre-op. She asked what time of day would work best for me. I said if I need to fast for the bloodwork, I would prefer the morning. She said she’d look into it and call me back.
On April 16 (Thursday), she called me back with a date and time, April 30 at 1:00 PM. She gave me the news that I didn’t have to fast.

I feel relieved. The surgeon said once I decided to have surgery, it would be about two to three weeks before they would do the surgery. I have a lot of confidence in my surgeon, she does a lot of gallbladder removals. She talked about how she did them the same way every time to reduce the risk.
Surgeons are funny. She said gallbladder removals are her favorite surgery. She likes doing the robotic surgery.

Robotic surgeries are supposed to be minimally invasive. Hope that means a super fast recovery time!

She said I should be close to normal in four weeks. Pause. I’m not sure she realized that I have never been close to normal. 😁

Big decision and one only you can make. Fingers crossed, positive thoughts and make sure they give you back the gallbladder so you can plant it in that Bama dirt. 😁

Nice that things seem to be moving along. I’m glad-you need some relief from the pain. Good luck with your pre-surgical blood work. Hurray that no fasting is required!

My husband’s appointments come quickly scheduled, also. He is a priority status because of his health. He has something coming up next week and I will be the driver. We are both a little nervous this weekend. I am not that nervous about my appointment as it can only help and no surgery involved, yet.

Thank you! He is still in pain when he pees. Extreme pain. The doc have to take out his stint in 5 weeks. Don’t ask me to address the issues as it is complex. We are hoping the pain will not last this long until the stiches are out. My husband had a lot of medical problems but so far the docs at the VA are helping him. I am certainly learning more about diagnosis than I ever knew. My only problem is my right hip right now but they are also addressing this. So, we shall see…step by step.

This is the first time I’ve been nervous about a surgery. It must be the idea of removing an organ and hoping I am not in the 10% it doesn’t help.

That sounds horrible. I hope he doesn’t remain in pain the entire time. The doctors sound as if they really want to help him and care about his health. From what I understand, some doctors are much better at diagnosis than others.
