Mostly Indoor Day

July 19, 2025

With it raining all morning, I didn’t go outside. I spent some time working on my picture of lion cubs.

I work from top to bottom, left to right to avoid smudging the picture.

After it stopped raining, we walked to the mailbox. I admired the crepe myrtle blooming. Here is a picture I took from the day before.

We plan to move the crepe myrtle since it is tall enough to get into the wires.

We stopped at the passion fruit vines and noticed this fritillary butterfly caterpillar on the passion fruit vine.

Bruce wanted to harvest the watermelon I thought was ripe. We walked back to the garden and thumped on a couple of watermelons. One of the watermelons sounded ripe, so we picked it.

It was ripe and very sweet. We ate the entire watermelon.

I was surprised the rind was so thick.

You can see the two small pumpkins I picked yesterday in the background.

The sunset was beautiful. We watched it from inside, with me stepping outside to take pictures. We are having fewer fireflies now. The acrobatics of the bats across the colors of the sunset are entrancing.

Nox sat at my feet while we watched the sunset.

  1. You live in such a magical place!

Love the lion cubs! I can’t wait to see the finished picture.

You might have enjoyed the cantaloupe I grew last year. Normal cantaloupe have a thin rind, thick flesh and a seedy core. Mine were all rind with just a few seeds in the center. (I think the drought was responsible.) 😆
