July 14, 2025
On July 13 (Sunday), I started drawing a picture of lion cubs to go beneath the picture of the lioness and cubs.

After I had the outline of the cubs completed, I decided to give it up for the day.
When it was time for supper, I had several summer squashes from the garden. I had a yellow crookneck squash, three yellow straight neck squashes, two striped zucchinies, and a dark green zucchini.

For supper, I cut the summer squash into one-inch pieces and chopped two onions from my garden. I tossed the squash pieces and chopped onions with oil and Southwestern seasonings. I roasted the squash and onions for about 10 minutes for a great-tasting side. I also roasted green beans from the garden.
We had leftover pork for our protein. It was a great supper.
After supper, we went outside and walked around. Nox came with us.

We went around front to watch the sunset and the bats came out! We watched the sunset, fireflies, and bats. It was great.

Today, July 14 (Monday), I got up and put an eye drop in my right eye.
Bama Dirt called just before eight o’clock. We took our second tarp and laid it out. The driver arrived about 45 minutes after he called. He dumped the dirt on the second tarp.
I baked triple ginger scones while Bruce directed and paid the driver.
We headed out into the heat and humidity to finish putting together the long garden bed.

Bruce and I were delighted to finish the bed before my surgery. The assembly does require two people.
Bruce will be able to cut some logs to better fit into the bed. He can do the rest without me in the next two weeks.
Before lunch, I put the second drop in my right eye.
After lunch, I got a call from the hospital’s scheduling department. My arrival time is 8:15 AM tomorrow.
I am excited and nervous at the same time.
Julia, I hope and pray that the cataract surgery goes well without incident. You continue to amaze me with those sunsets – really beautiful! Howard

Thank you for your well wishes. I just had another phone call with the hospital. While I’ll have to be there for 3 hours, the surgery only takes 10 minutes!

Yes, indeed! Moving all that wood in and out of the mower wagon was hard. I am so glad I didn’t have to carry it all the way!
