This morning, I got a text from Bama Dirt asking if we were ready for our second load of dirt. I texted back, “Yes”.
The driver texted to ask if I wanted it in the same spot. The answer was, “Yes”.
We had moved the tarp closer to the last three short beds so it would be easier to fill them. The short bed on the north end, we planned to fill by dumping wagon loads of dirt into it.
The driver arrived and backed up onto the tarp. I am not sure what caused the glare on the last two pictures.

With a storm expected tomorrow, I wanted to get as much dirt into the beds today before the storm arrives tomorrow.
Bruce wanted to get his Alabama driver’s license today. Right around lunchtime, Bruce headed out to get his Alabama license.
I had already headed out to start moving dirt. Bruce waved to me as he took his motorcycle out of the barn and headed out. I filled one garden bin and decided to take a break. I started opening boxes. Some items could be put away.
I found the baby quilt my mother made for our daughter and the baby blanket my youngest sister had crocheted for our daughter. I found the quilt my grandmon had given me to finish. It was a kit and she had cross-stitched the top in a pattern. I put the quilt together and hand quilted it.
I unboxed bowls and our good flatware. I found more mugs, but I haven’t found our glasses yet.
After a bit, Nox and I went back outside. I started filling the next garden bed. Bruce came home, changed clothes and joined me. He filled up the wagon for the short bed on the end while I continued to shovel dirt into the short bed I had been filling.
While we shoveled dirt, Bruce told me the documents with his name on the letters were too old to get the star id on his driver’s license. The regulations required the letters to be 90 days or sooner. He got his Alabama driver’s license and if he goes back tomorrow with two official letters dated 90 days or sooner, he can get his star id license without any additional charges.
After moving dirt for a while, Bruce and I took a break. After the break, Bruce decided to use his wedges to start breaking apart the pine stump out front. We had a fire yesterday to burn the stump after finishing moving dirt. Bruce attacked the stump, while I shoveled dirt.

I finished filling the short garden bed I was working on. Bruce came back to see how it was going and to finish filling the end bed. I helped with the end bed by helping dump the wagon of dirt into the bed.
While Bruce was shoveling dirt into the wagon, I was getting a shovel full of dirt and carrying it over to the last bed. Once the end bed was finished, Bruce asked me if we should use the wagon to fill the last bed. I replied, “Yes, it would be a huge time saver and a lot less work.”
We both shoveled dirt into the wagon and dumped it. Soon, we had the last bed full of dirt!
I can plant in any of the beds now!

Bruce folded the tarp over the remaining pile of dirt to protect it from the coming storm. We don’t want the dirt to wash away.
When I took off my gloves, I found a blister under my left ring finger. The blister has already gone down.
Wow, how much food will you be growing this year? Where will you store it?

I will be growing a lot of food. I think we’ll need a second freezer and jars for canning.

I can’t wait to see you start on the root cellar!

I was thinking we could dig a root cellar and use it for tornado warnings. To make it attractive, I was thinking of a water fall down the back into a pond. 😆Won’t Bruce be surprised by all my plans!

I am thinking “surprised” might not cover it all!

Haha! I didn’t realize you were a punster! Bruce and his dad look for ways to make puns as well,

Making puns was totally new to me, and I enjoyed it like a brand new game. Grandson David is carrying on the tradition in his generation.

It was new to me as well. I don’t make them often. When I do, I wait for Bruce to catch it. Since he doesn’t expect me to make puns, it can take a bit for him to realize it.

I look forward to reading about what gets planted in all the above ground beds.

After hearing about all the fires lately, I am really glad to not be reading that Bruce walked away from the burning stump, and started another forest fire! Oh, right. I’ve met Bruce; he has more sense!
I also grew up with a punny father. All too often I inadvertently make a pun and everyone else is laughing, while I’m just not getting it. My brother-in-law’s creative with puns, too.

That would’ve been awful. We sat and watched the fire burn down and then dumped water on the ashes.
I had never been around a punster before. I quickly learned Bruce expected a groan when he came up with a pun. So does my father-in-law. Learned behaviors are so interesting!
