The Electric Zero Turn Lawnmower Arrived!

October 9, 2024

Just before noon today, I got a call from the FedEx Freight truck driver. He was 15 minutes away and he was worried about getting turned around in our driveway. I told him we had a loop that he could use.

He decided from Google maps the loop was too small. That driver backed into our driveway and up the driveway to the house. I give him kudos!

Once the driver got up to the house, he realized he could’ve used the loop. He laughed and said it was better to be safe than sorry.

Here are some pictures of the yard before it is mowed.

The driver unloaded the metal pallet the mower was on. We looked for damages and everything looked great. The metal pallet looked expensive, so we thought it needed to be returned. The driver said it didn’t need to be returned. He said you need to take the front apart, then you can drive the mower off the pallet. He waved goodbye to us and off he went.

Nice Straps to Hold the Mower in Place

Here’s a picture of the mower after we removed the plastic wrap that had been protecting it.

I didn’t realize that some assembly would be required. It wasn’t hard.

We took the boxes off the mower body and started opening them. We assembled the mower with a slight hiccup with the seat. We didn’t realize the seat tipped up (duh) at first and tried to bolt the seat down through the space between the seat and the mower body. Once I looked at the manual and figured out the seat tipped up, it was easy!

The rest of the assembly was simple and straightforward. Bruce had to take apart the front of the metal pallet so he could drive the mower off of it.

He then started checking out the mower and started mowing.

Mowing in the Front Yard

After he mowed for a short while, he put the batteries in the chargers. The mower comes with four batteries and two chargers. The chargers were surprisingly loud. They have fans that make a lot of noise.

Bruce’s comment was, “These are definitely a garage item.”

While Bruce had started playing with the mower USP arrived with the stick Dyson V15 and the vacuum stand I ordered.

I happily put the stand together, only to realize I put part of it backwards. Sigh. I had to unscrew it, turn it around and Bruce held it since I had added the top section and it was heavy. The stand is heavy duty and it looks good. If anyone is interested, I’ll post a picture.

After the batteries charged up, Bruce did some more mowing.

Nox and I went out to watch Bruce mow. Nox got very excited and wanted to go for a ride on the mower. Bruce stopped the mower blades and took Nox for a ride. She seemed to really enjoy it. Bruce said that she gets in the way of the controls. We talked about getting a cart for Nox to ride in. (Yes, Nox is spoiled.)

After a while, we had to leave so Bruce could get the oil changed in the truck. This also involves changing the fuel filter as well.

Bruce parked the mower in the barn for the night.

Into the Barn

Bruce is very pleased with the mower. He likes how it works. He did take some time to test out the speed, max 8 miles an hour. It looked fast as he zipped around. The mower blades weren’t engaged when he was doing his speed test.

  1. I’ve never lived in a household with a riding mower. I enjoyed reading about the delivery and your putting yours together. New territory! I am surprised Nox wanted to ride on it. Kacey was afraid of loud noises and would have run from it.

    1. It is very quiet since it is electric. We think Nox thinks it is a different kind of golf cart. She loves riding in golf carts. Some of the RV parks we stayed at had fellow RVers who let her ride in their golf carts.
