Review of Walt’s Four Seasons Campground and Country Store in Abilene, Kansas

August 5, 2024

Updated in the evening

The staff at the country store were very friendly. We enjoyed the Hunt’s Brothers Pizza and wings made fresh for us.

The store has rocking chairs and a porch swing in the front. These do look over the gas pumps. The fuel pumps are covered and the roof is high enough for very tall RVs. We could fit under the roof at 13’4” with lots of room overhead.

With the temps in the high 90’s and low 100’s F, we didn’t enjoy the outside very much today.

Yesterday, before the day got too hot, we noticed the campground had a lot of cute details.

The campsites have electricity, water and sewer.

We are in a hard packed gravel area. I think this area is the easy in, easy out pull throughs for big rigs who aren’t staying long.

From the RV Window

You can see back in spots next to the woods in the above picture.

We are grateful we were put next to the edge of the gravel lot. We have grass on the camping side and a lovely shade tree. It is helping to keep us cooler in the blazing heat.

The swimming pool has is open most of the day, with adult only hours in the evening, from 7 to 9. They have pool side bar, not a swim up bar.

They have a dog park, but with it being so hot, Nox was not interested in being outside for long. We didn’t take her to the dog park.

Update: With it cooling off after sunset, we took Nox to the dog park. It is for all sized dogs and a fairly small dog park. It worked great for Nox.

This is a nice campground and I would enjoy staying here to see the sights in Abilene, Kansas. The main attraction in Abilene is the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and boyhood home. While pets are welcome on the grounds, they are not allowed in the buildings.
