Visiting the Coke-Cola Museum in Vicksburg, MS

April 3, 2024

After our tour of the Jesse Brent Lower Mississippi River Museum, we walked the short distance to the Coke-Cola Museum.

The lady at the front desk let us buy a Coke ice cream float and after we paid the entry fee, allowed us to walk around the museum with the floats.

She also asked if we had gotten a Vicksburg Passport. We hadn’t, so she explained it was a little booklet and you got the page for an attraction stamped when you visited the attraction. After five stamps, you could get a free t-shirt at the Vicksburg Visitors Center, which is across from the entrance to the Vicksburg National Military Park. We happily accepted the Vicksburg Passports she gave us.

The museum was the first place Coke-Cola was bottled. They had the original equipment on display.

There was a lot of Coke-Cola memorabilia as well.

The museum also had a drug store soda fountain display in a separate building.

After our tour, we walked back to the motorcycle on the other side of the street.

We decided that we had left Nox alone long enough and it was time to head back to the RV.

I am awake!

  1. Did they talk at all about how Coke was used to mask the flavor of medicine years and years ago? (I learned this at the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, which I highly recommend you visit if y’all have the opportunity.)

    1. If they did, I didn’t see it. The focus was on the bottling of Coke and the soda fountain. It was really interesting and for $4 worth seeing. I didn’t know New Orleans had a pharmacy museum. It sounds interesting to check out.
