On Wednesday (January 24), Bruce had a colonoscopy. It came back completely normal, with no polyps even.
This was such a relief! I always have a nagging worry they will find a cancer again. Mentally, I know it takes a long time for a polyp to turn into cancer, but emotionally, I am afraid to hear, “you have cancer.”
Bruce always has his colonoscopy as recommended by his doctor, since he wants to make sure he doesn’t have a reoccurrence of colon cancer. I am completely with him on that. Bruce’s fight with stage 3 colon cancer at age 42 was the scariest time of my life.
Great news! I can’t even imagine the anticipation phase of this!

Fortunately, it has always been great news after the surgery and chemo.

What a relief! The reality is that too many don’t get screened, and too many loose a spouse. Glad that it’s not you!

Bruce’s family has a lot of colon cancer in it. When he started having symptoms at age 41, it took them over six months to diagnose him. As soon as they did the colonoscopy, they found the tumor and said it was obstructing his colon and this could have caused him to die. The doctors wanted him to have surgery immediately. Talk about scary and with no time to really get our heads wrapped around the diagnosis. Then after the surgery, the wait to find out how bad it was so scary. Then the meeting with the oncologist to discuss treatment and the six months of chemo. The recovery time needed to get the chemo out of his system was another six months. Then the wait after every scan, was he cancer free? Finally, the doctor telling him that he could be considered cancer free! The relief!

Glad to hear the results were cancer-free👏👏. Such a young age for Bruce to have had it at 41!

Thank you! The doctors were shocked that he had a cancer and it was so large. I am just glad he kept insisting something was wrong until they discovered the cancer. I have seen reports now saying that colon cancer is now more common in younger people. It isn’t just an “older” person cancer anymore.

Oh my, yes that must have been very scary. I have had polyps but they were benign so far. I hate doing a colonoscopy, I cannot drink all that nasty liquid. The last 2 times I threw up most of it. Despite that, I have also done them as directed. Thank goodness Bruce’s came out negative this time.

It was a terrifying time for me. I was so glad we lived close to the office. I could go check on him every day at lunch. The chemo really messed up Bruces thought processes and balance.
I have had benign polyps so far as well. I hate the prep for the colonoscopy, but I do them as recommended.
