Foster Falls in the New River Trail State Park

October 14, 2023

Since we had paid the day parking fee for the New River Trail State Park, VA (September 25), we decided to check out another area of the park.

Foster Falls sounded interesting since the name had falls in it. We hoped for some beautiful falls.

We drove to Foster Falls and parked near the campground. We put Nox’s regular harness on her and started out by walking around the campground.

The campground is a beautiful spot to go tent camping. Is is not set up for RVs.

Bruce saw two ground hogs but I only saw one of them. It was moving to fast for me to get a picture. They scooted behind one of the barns.

Foster Falls has a stable, several barns and a small camp store. The horses were in the pasture, but I didn’t think to take pictures.

At the entrance to the Foster Falls Park, is the Foster Falls train station and a caboose.

We drove drown to the boat ramp and picnic area downriver.

As we were leaving, I told Bruce I would like to check out the hotel. I said while the information sign says it is empty, the lights are on.

As we drove up to the Inn, we realized it was not empty. We stopped in and the desk lady said we could look around. She also gave me the card for Foster Falls Inn.

We stopped to pick up burgers at the Burger Express in Fort Chiswell. I noticed this information sign on their bulletin board.

The park has a lot of great sounding programs.

While we didn’t see any falls at Foster Falls, it is a beautiful area.
