The museum at Poverty Point World Heritage Site is small, but dense. It has a lot of artifacts and information. This post is picture heavy because I found so many items interesting and want to share them.

I enjoyed the pictures they had above the cases. It helped me understand how the artifacts had been used.

There were many stone artifacts, pottery, and some copper ones as well.

They had a section of world history showing when the mounds where built and what was happening in the rest of the world since the mounds at Poverty Point where built.

Then it was time to walk around the site. That will be part three.
Fascinating–love the stone pieces and the carvings.

Julia,
Thanks for the museum tour. You’re getting quite an education on Louisiana history – ,maybe you should go on a speaking tour!!!
