Tractor and Pig Feeder Play Nice with Each Other, Butterflies Abound, and Hummingbird Visit

August 30, 2026

On August 20, I got up early and saw the sunrise. While that was common when Nox was with us, now that she is gone, I don’t get up at sunrise very often anymore.

I went outside in the relatively cool part of the day and did some weeding in the garden beds. I checked for the harlequin bugs on the horseradish, found a few, and they did not survive being found.

I picked cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, okra, and a Crenshaw melon.

Bruce decided to move the exposed pig feeder to the end of the driveway, next to the ditch. This is the spot we put large trash to be removed. The county has several specialized garbage trucks that drive around and pick up large trash items. It is a great system since it provides a way to get rid of trash that might otherwise end up in the woods, etc.

Bruce had the tractor play with the pig feeder.

I got some great shots of butterflies.

While looking at butterflies from the patio, I got a big surprise. I heard a noise, looked over, and saw a hummingbird feeding from the lime tree!
