Just in Case You Were Wondering…

July 18, 2026

Bruce and I arrived safely at Jeanne’s (a Jeanne in the Kitchen) and Larry’s home. I thought we should get another hotel room since Jeanne was expecting us on Saturday, not Friday night. Bruce suggested I call her to see if she was willing to have us arrive a day early. Jeanne was gracious enough to take the tired and weary travelers in.

We brought in our stuff, as well as host gifts for Jeanne. Bruce brought in the cooler full of produce from our garden. Most of the produce I brought from our garden made the 3 1/2 day trip safely . I was pleasantly surprised at how much of the produce made it.

You can read about our arrival in Jeanne’s post.

Bruce and Julia came in a day earlier than we expected. It was a very pleasant surprise indeed. Of course we are happy we get to spend more time with…

  1. What a nice post! Sourdough pancakes sound delicious! It was a 3 1/2 day trip – that’s a long trip! I am glad you made it there safely. Enjoy your time together!

    1. My neighbors let me know they raided my tomato jungle. I hope they keep raiding it so the tomatoes go to good use. My poor squash died dramatically to the squash border vine mouth.

      1. It is good to have good neighbors! I am sorry about your squash, though. I am struggling to keep the few plants I have alive in this heat. My tick seed finally gave up the ghost and said “we are done.” The rosemary is doing the best, and the sage and sometimes the basil is revived. Nothing is eating them, at least…not even me!

    1. Thank you. We have driven I-70 so many times, I wanted to see different versions of the high plains. It turns out Kansas is Kansas, with very little variation.

      1. I hope we’ll be able to meet another time. We are on our way home and have stopped in Salina, Kansas for the night. If you are ever in Tennessee, Alabama, the panhandle of Florida, or Georgia, let me know. We might be able to meet up.

Say hi to Wilson for me.
