On June 9, I walked out to the garden to see how my garden was growing. The soybeans had more Japanese Beatles on them.

I picked off the Japanese Beetles and dropped them into soapy water. The traps are doing a great job, but they don’t catch all of the Japanese Beetles.
I checked on the green beans and they were ready. I picked a gallon of them.

Bruce knocked a bell pepper off as he was moving buckets to mow.

In the evening, we sat outside on the front porch, watching the sunset and laughing at the toad’s jumping ability.

Nice garden veggies!!

Toads are delightful creatures, eating all sorts of insects. I love to watch them hop up the stairs. We are always careful at night to make sure we don’t step on them.

That is fun. I had a toad or frog hanging around a couple of years ago. I wish others would come.

The beans look delicious! Some frogs in Florida, the cane toad? you must be careful of with dogs.

Luckily, cane toads haven’t made it here yet. The toad in the picture is either a Southern toad or a Fowler’s toad.

Yes, I am not keen on freezing them, a suggestion to euthanize them.

Yuck, I would not want to put them in my freezer!

Japanese beetles are just so yucky. They can cause so much destruction. But those green beans look incredibly tasty!

We put out traps early and that has helped. What surprised me is their attack on the sorrel. I could use it as a trap plants. They actually seem to like the sorrel better than beans!
