April 14, 2026
On Friday (April 10), I finished up our income taxes for the feds and state. Normally, I finish taxes much earlier, but this year I had two Scheduled K forms to include. These forms often come a week or two before the tax filing deadline of April 15.
I prepared everything, except the entries for the Schedule K forms, well ahead of time. (Schedule Ks are for partnerships, LLCs, and trusts. They may also include other types of entities.)
I spent some time looking up the meaning for terms and which line on the Schedule K that I should enter into Turbo Tax.
I was able to complete and file the Federal Tax Return electronically.
The kicker came when I went to file my State Tax Return. Due to some quirky law, Alabama wouldn’t accept a tax return with a loss on one of the forms.
I would have to print out the State Tax Forms and mail them. Really? Yes, really. Ugh.
We don’t have a printer and needed to use the library’s printer to print the tax forms. It was too late to go to the library and get the forms printed. The local library closes at 5pm on Friday and remains closed until 9 am on Monday.

I have to wait for a Schedule K to come every year. I wish it would come earlier.

So do I. I like to be done with taxes as soon as possible, so I don’t have to fret over them until next year.

Ugh, I have a friend with an issue similar to yours! She ordered a printer, and it came yesterday afternoon. Her hair is practically falling out from all the complications this year!
Glad you got yours done and filed. Now you can go back to thinking about Real Life. 😊

I feel bad for your friend. Dealing with everything that comes with taxes is reason to pull out your hair!
I was relieved to be done with the whole mess until next year.

Ugh is right! That’s more than onerous. So sorry. Hopefully you were able to finish up and turn your efforts toward giving your state legislators a piece of your mind. 😉

I am not sure I can afford giving them a piece of my mind. I need all of it!😏

Taxes….ugh! I had to do a paper return for some reason one year recently, I can’t remember why. So annoying. I hope you were able to get your copies made by the deadline.

I did. The docs were so heavy it took three stamps!

It’s crazy how complicated it is to do taxes. I’m glad we’re past the 15th.
