On the Road Again

June 30, 2025

On June 24 (Tuesday), Bruce started our 4 hour and 51 minute trip (according to Google maps) to Tremont Lodge and Resort. We knew it would take us a bit longer since we would stop for breakfast along the way.

We took Alt Hwy 72 to Decatur, AL and crossed the Tennessee River.

We headed through Huntsville, AL on I-565, passing the Space and Rocket Center.

Did it get renamed?

We ate all the tomatoes I bought for a snack as we headed down Hwy 72.

We stopped at Scottsboro, AL and got breakfast to go at Wendy’s. In the parking lot, we ate in the truck with the engine idling so Nox would stay cool. After eating we were back on the road again.

Nox was back in travel mode, calm, cool and sleepy.

We would soon roll into Tennessee.

Then we crossed the Tennessee River again and dipped down into Georgia.

Then back into Tennessee, through Chattanooga, TN. We head northeast on I-75.

We exited the interstate and took Hwy 321 to Townsend, TN.

There was some road construction just outside of Townsend. Flagmen directed traffic through the one lane that was open.

Nox woke up because we stopped.

Why did you stop? I was sleeping.

We arrived and checked in. We got Nox out of the truck and walked her in the grass. We brought her bed inside the room.

We brought in the rest of the luggage and Nox things. While I texted Betty to let her know we had arrived, Bruce put together Nox’s crate. Betty asked us to head over at a 3:15 PM. We agreed to head over to the campground then. I put the peaches into the refrigerator to help keep them cool.

We took Nox for a walk around the resort.

I didn’t take any pictures of the pool since children were playing in it.

Then it was time to head over to Look Rock Campground in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and meet up with Betty and Dan. While Bruce put Nox into her crate, I grabbed the peaches out of the fridge and put them into the cooler.

Away we went to meet a friend I only knew from her blog!

    1. Maybe you can stop by and see us. Does your route take you along Hwy 72, alt Hwy 72, I-65? We could even meet up somewhere along the way.

      1. I don’t recall which road we went–I think that was the first time we went, but we went across to Muscle Shoals and then into Tennessee. It would be fun to meet up, and I still think I will try a day trip, but things are on hold for a bit. I will be tied up with some med appointments, and they are starting our latest construction project to rebuild our screened porch and do some work in the laundry room. We are finally getting electrical on the deck, too, so once we finish those things, we plan a few days away. Everything is finally moving toward finish after only 4 years of shuffling everything around to fix something else!

      2. I do hope your projects go well. It is always nice to get away after projects have disrupted your life. It makes a nice treat. If you come this way, I would love to meet up!

    1. We had a wonderful time! Thanks for being willing to take us around on your days off. It was nice for us to have a little break from all the work on Blackberry Homestead.
