Just Another Sunday

June 6, 2025

On Sunday (June 1), Bruce and I walked around the back pasture. We looked some more at the leaning pine (pine tree number 1). It appeared to be leaning more into the pine tree it fell into.

Leaning More into Another Pine

We thought it was leaning more earlier and Sunday, I was able to find a picture from the day of the storm. I compared the picture to the actual tree. Yep, it was leaning more.

Bruce got his chainsaw ready for taking down the tree. With the tree leaning more we felt it went from unsafe to risky. We planned to take the tree down later in the week.

Once back to the front yard, I started putting more cardboard down to sheet mulch an area by the front porch. I want to turn it into a flower garden.

Bruce loaded up the lawn mower cart with Bama Dirt promix and brought it around front. He unloaded the dirt. He got another cart and needed to cool off. Shoveling dirt is hard work! I unloaded the cart onto the cardboard. Bruce started the mower up and discovered a butterfly on his hand.

This snout nosed butterfly stopped to visit Bruce.

The butterfly followed Bruce all the to garden area in the backyard and hung around while Bruce filled the cart with the last of the Bama Dirt promix. I went also and the butterfly landed on me briefly.

Once the last load of dirt was unloaded, Bruce headed to the barn to drop off the cart and mow the backyard.

I smoothed the dirt out over the cardboard.

It was a busy full day so we sat outside on the front porch in the evening.

Our neighbor was outside working on his mower. Nox was fascinated by the noise.

The fireflies started to come out before the sunset. I found one on my rocking chair.

Firefly

The sunset reminded me of StarWars sunset in the desert, except, of course, for the lush trees.

We were still having smoke in the upper atmosphere from the wildfires in Canada.
