Overslept Due to an Uncomfortable Nox

May 10, 2025

On Tuesday, (May 6) we overslept. My appointment for PT was at 10:30 AM and we slept until 9:30 AM. This gave us 30 minutes to get showers, get dressed and get out the door. Nox also needed to be walked before we could leave. I walked Nox while Bruce showered and dressed. We didn’t have time to even eat breakfast.

Nox acted very uncomfortable during the night. She kept waking us up with her whining and crying. She wanted to be with us. She didn’t want to be with us. She wanted outside. She didn’t want to be outside. She wanted food or water. She didn’t want it. We think her shoulder was bothering her, but she was at the limit of her medication. She just wanted us to make her feel better. She finally settled down and went to sleep and so did we.

I was five minutes late to PT, which wasn’t too bad.

At PT, after my exercises, my physical therapist discussed trying dry needling to improve my condition. He walked me through how it would work, then suggested I research it to see if it would be something I wanted to try.

I agreed to check it out and to see if it was something I wanted to try.

On Monday, Bruce ordered a four pack of large garden beds. They were on sale and I need more beds. We are planning on joining three beds together into one long bed. This will be an asparagus bed. It will be 4 feet by 24 feet, making a 96 foot square bed.

Since I had spread the composted cow manure over the garden beds, I needed more compost to make more potting soil.

So on Tuesday, we stopped at Lowe’s on the way home from my PT. We bought some cow manure compost and soil for the just ordered tall garden beds.

We unloaded the bags from the back of the truck into the mower cart. Using the mower, Bruce carried the bags over by the garden. We unloaded them from the cart; they were very messy. We had to get washed up.

We are going to mix the purchased soil with the Bama Dirt for the new beds.

After getting washed up, I decided to clean the oven. The corn pudding from Monday’s supper dripped butter onto the bottom of the oven and baked it on. With this mess, I decided to run the cleaning cycle on the oven. I took out the racks and turned on the cleaning cycle.

I used the Carbona kit to clean my racks while the oven self cleaned. I am throughly impressed with the results of using the Carbona kit. I just rinsed off the baked on gunk and the racks looked unused! They were so shiny again!

I noticed a house finch on the new feeder. I looked at the birds on the feeder with the binoculars, that’s how I know what they are. You can’t tell from the picture.

The sky was overcast at sunset, so no pretty sunset pictures for this post.

Nox felt better and was a happier dog on Tuesday night. She slept most the way through the night. Bruce took her out once during the night after Nox asked to go out. He heard coyotes yipping and howling.

  1. PT is a big commitment. I do it on my own now and go for acupuncture which is painful afterwards as the blood circulates but it appears to be working. Good luck with the research! We have similar bird feeders but the hummingbirds did not arrive. When I don’t have work coming up, I sleep pretty well but with the challenges of teaching this year, sometimes I have difficulty sleeping.

    1. I am committed to PT and getting better. I don’t like hurting. I decided to move forward with trying the dry needling.

We haven’t had any hummingbirds yet.

I sometimes have trouble letting go of my thoughts at night, which means I can’t get to sleep right away.
