Jeanne’s Birthday Party

February 23, 2025

On Saturday (February 23), in the morning we went to the storage units to get a better idea of how to move items. We were also looking for a box of rope. We didn’t find the box of rope, so we’ll need to buy some for tying down items in the truck.

In the afternoon, we headed over to Jeanne’s of a ajeanneinthekitchen.com blog fame. She was having a birthday party and was kind enough to invite us. Getting to see Jeanne and join her birthday party celebration was a large part of our decision to come to Colorado in February!

Jeanne had three tables set with table cloths, colorful plates and wine glasses. Flower arrangements decorated the tables. Each table had its own flower theme. It was a feast for the eyes.

We had a wonderful time at Jeanne’s party! Her long time friends are welcoming. The food was delicious just as we expected! Jeanne used her Christmas presents from me (an Ethiopian cookbook and spices) and made a delicious Ethiopian meal. She had two meat dishes, chicken pumpkin stew and steak stir fry type of dish. She had roasted beets, potatoes and carrots. The tomato salad was a huge hit. Jeanne used heirloom tomatoes in the tomato salad and the flavor had depth and brightness. The dressing was so yummy.

Since Ethiopian’s don’t generally eat desserts, Jeanne made a lovely take on a Middle Eastern dessert, cherry pistachio rice pudding.

It was wonderful we were able to see Jeanne and Larry (Jeanne’s husband). While Jeanne asked Bruce to take a picture of us together, I didn’t think to do the same!

Happy Birthday, Jeanne! I hope you have many happy returns!
