Nox Had a Dental Visit Yesterday

Yesterday, I got up and got dressed. I needed to drive 20 to 25 minutes to get Nox to her dental drop off at 8:00 AM.

I gave them permission to pull any teeth that needed pulling. I agreed for them to attempt to save Nox if something went wrong.

Nox was not happy about being taken to the veterinary clinic. Poor little thing. She shivered so much. I hated to leave her, but I also know having her teeth cleaned helps protect her from heart disease.

The clinic gave me three times I could come and pick her up. The earliest was 4:00 PM. I selected the 4:00 PM since that would allow me to get home before dark.

I stopped off at Lowe’s and looked at garden supplies. I then went to Walmart in Muscle Shoals and checked with the pharmacy to see if they had heard anything from my neurologist. They hadn’t heard anything from him either. I can’t reach anyone from his office.

I drove into Tuscumbia to drop off a UPS package, only to find the drugstore no longer was a UPS drop off. (Then just why did they leave it on Google maps as a UPS drop off?)

I had read in the local paper that the Cold Water Falls at the a Tuscumbia Big Spring was once again running. It is the largest man-made natural stone waterfall in the world.

I walked to the park and the waterfall is spectacular!

Last year, Nox didn’t need any teeth pulled. This year, she needed three teeth pulled.

While I was in the office waiting to pick up Nox, the clinic’s cat, Arrow, decided I was his best friend. I got lots of loving from him.

After they brought Nox out to me, I carried her to the truck, took a picture and sent it to Bruce.

When I got home, I realized she had the end of her tongue sticking out of her mouth. That was funny to me, so I took another picture and sent it to Bruce.

Nox was smelly, so I gave Nox a bath today.

So mean! I hate baths!

  4. Nox, call CPS! (Canine Protective Services) You were treated with the utmost cruelty having a bath on top of dental work. Awoo!! – Murphy

    Nox actually looks like she was smiling in those pictures. 😊 I hope that once the soreness goes away she feels much better.

    I hope you can get in touch with your neurologist soon. Is it something urgent? Do you know of a backup doctor?

    1. I believe Nox was glad to get out of there!

      I hope so as well. I am out of a prescription that controls nerve pain. In all the times we were traveling in the RV, I have always been able to reach his office and get my prescriptions refilled. He has several partners, so one on them should have approved my prescription. I was planning to see if he could recommend a practice in North Alabama or Middle Tennessee.

      I also have compound/complex migraines. I collapsed a few times before I was able to get a diagnosis and then medication to control them.

      1. Yuck. That sounds like what I had with Lyme disease but long term. I am really sorry about that. I wish there were something that could cure it.

        I’ve never had chicken pox, and now I’m nervous about crossing paths with an adult with shingles!

        I was disappointed when I went to a pain doctor recently. All of the medications they have for nerve pain are corn based. That means they are off limits to folks like me. ☹️ I hope you not only get your prescription soon but find an additional doctor closer to home.

      2. I didn’t realize you couldn’t have corn as well as dairy! You have it rough! I didn’t realize that nerve pain medicine was corn based.

        I am so grateful they have medicine that I can take to deal with the nerve pain.

        While shingles itself isn’t contagious, the virus can be spread through direct contact with fluid from shingles rash or blisters and the infected person could develop chickenpox. “It’s not possible to pass the virus to someone before shingles blisters appear or after the lesions have crusted over—that’s why covering up the rash helps prevent the spread of the virus.”

      3. I was worried the virus might be airborne. Good to know it isn’t!

        Nearly every pharmaceutical drug is corn based. There is only one antibiotic I can take and no oral steroid. I am hoping that if the government is taking an interest in making foods safer they might also look at the drug industry. With corn being the second most common allergen in the US, it seems like a lousy base for medications!
