Getting Information about the Solar Eclipse at Arkansas Welcome Center

April 21, 2024

On April 3 (Wednesday), we walked from the RV park to the Chicot Coffee & Cafe across from the Lake Village Arkansas Welcome Center.

We had breakfast sandwiches; I had camomile tea while Bruce had a cup of coffee. The patio outback faces Lake Chicot. It has a pretty mural painted on the back.

After breakfast, we crossed the street to the Lake Village Arkansas Welcome Center. It is a beautiful welcome center with lots of information about Arkansas. They do tend to focus on the area next to the Mississippi River (The Delta).

We wanted information about the solar eclipse and they had it.

In looking at the map, we decided to go to Hot Springs, Arkansas to view the total eclipse, weather permitting.

After picking up some additional brochures about things to do in the area, we walked back to the RV.

Nox was happy to see us and wanted to go for a walk.

The RV park had a lot of flowers growing in the meadow under the pecan trees.

The RV park also has Irises planted around the park.

They have small magnolia trees in the open section of the park. The magnolia trees were blooming.

Nox enjoyed doing Nox things and when she got tired, I carried her back to the RV.

  1. Looks like a lovely place! I photographed a New Deal mural in the Lake Village post office and spent quite a bit of time downtown taking photographs. We even talked about buying a house there on the lake when we were considering relocating after we retired. It would have been closer to friends and family in Texas. We looked at several houses on the market that might work for us, and even contacted a realtor there, but ultimately decided that might be too much of a change too soon. Still, I find it an interesting place and enjoyed many other places in Arkansas as well.

      1. No, I haven’t seen it. We have already left Arkansas and are in Alabama for 3 days. We are heading to Jekyll Island, GA for my father-in-law’s 90th birthday.
