Nox’s right front leg is giving her more problems. She walks with a limp most of the time now. She is having trouble going down stairs or jumping down. She loves to be up high and being on the couch with me seems to be one of her joys.
We put her dog bed at the edge of the couch, so she can jump down on it. For a long while, this seemed to help her, but it isn’t helping as much any more.
Nox has recently started asking me to put her down from the couch. Nox will stand at the edge of the seat on the couch and look down. Then she looks at me, then she looks down. I will pick her up and put her on her dog bed.
If I am not paying attention to her, she will make whining noises to get my attention. This will also get Bruce’s attention and he’ll put her down.
She doesn’t seem to mind going up the stairs or jumping up onto the couch.
We’ve discussed getting a ramp for her, but we don’t have room. Fortunately, she seems to enjoy having a couple of Nox elevators at her beck and whine.

We do as much as we can to help them out when it gets harder to get up and down. May the elevators last long and extra hugs to Nox and her humans.

Honey, your humans are overjoyed at being able to help you. The more you ask, the happier they will be. 😊

That’s right! We prefer that you ask for help instead of hurting yourself.

Our dog had the opposite problem where she could no longer jump up onto the couch or bed, but she would still jump off. Sometimes she would attempt to jump up and not quite make it. Nox is lucky to have you there to provide elevator service for her, and I bet you enjoy having her on the sofa next to you.

It is hard when our dogs start showing their age. I do love to have Nox snuggled up against me.
