Poor Little Nox, Scared of Thunder

April 20, 2023

On April 16, after we arrived at Frog City RV Park in Duson, LA, we enjoyed blue skies with white fluffy clouds.

We got the RV set up and walked Nox around the park. They have a dog park and Nox stayed close to us while we walked around inside the dog park. We did convince her to trot between us as we called her back and forth between us. Nox got tired and we headed back to the RV.

Later, we enjoyed the crayfish (crawfish) boil put on by the RV park for dinner.

After we got back to the RV, we took showers since crayfish are so messy to eat.

Sometimes later, around 10:30 pm, we went to bed.

At 1:30 am, Bruce and I both woke suddenly to loud thunder. Nox was desperately trying to get to us. She was crying and scratching at our bedroom door. Bruce opened up the door and picked her up and let her in bed with us.

The storm was ferocious and continued until 3:00 am. Thunder was constantly booming. Nox had snuggled in with us and was comfortable since we were there to protect her the loud thunder.

After we were sure the storm had passed over, Bruce carried Nox back to her bed.

We don’t let Nox sleep with us because we are afraid we would roll over on her and hurt her. We do let Nox up on the bed sometimes in the evening while we read in bed.

  1. MIss Nox is so wily. She figured out the thunder was a great excuse to get into the human bed. Mission accomplished. I used to love to be in our trailer during rain storms – the sound of the rain on the roof and the sense of being snugged down while it was howling outside was great. Lightning storms? Uh, not so much. Max didn’t care about thunder or lightning at all and it never disturbed him but then again, he used to sleep with us all the time so maybe that was it.

    1. She is very wily. We have another thunderstorm right now and. Nox is back in bed with us snoring away. I love hearing the rain on the roof of the trailer; it is so relaxing. Luna was never bothered by thunderstorms, but Nox is a different story. I can picture Max snoring away during a thunderstorm, happy his dog dad was protecting him.
