Not Posting Much Right Now

May 3, 2026

I haven’t been posting a lot lately since I have been so busy. I am trying to get everything I want done before my gallbladder removal surgery.

At the hospital, I had my pre-op meeting with a nurse on April 30. They took a blood draw from me to do some bloodwork and did an EKG. I prepaid my deductible for the surgery. The nurse said Bruce would be allowed to wait with me before and after surgery.

I was given antiseptic soap to use before surgery. I have to use it the night before and the morning of surgery. I have not had to do that before. I don’t know when they started doing this and if it’s just this particular hospital’s protocol.

As the surgery gets closer, I’m getting more nervous. I know this is supposed to be a fairly easy surgery, but still, they are removing an organ.

My surgery is May 6th, only 3 more days away.

I’ll post about all I’ve done lately once I start recovering from surgery.

  1. I have used antiseptic soap before surgery. It seemed routine to me.

Yes, you are having an organ removed, but you don’t have to play it on Sunday mornings!

Gall bladder removal was one of my favorite surgeries. You’ll NEVER have a painful gall bladder attack again.

    1. I am truly looking forward to never having a gallbladder attack again!

I haven’t used antiseptic soap before surgery before. It seems like a great idea to reduce the chances of infection.

      1. Bruce is a punster, he got it from his dad. Sometimes at breakfast or dinner, it was one pub rolling into another.

      2. Our love of punning came from my father-in-law. John and I kept it going. Our children pun occasionally, but grandson David can keep going longer and faster than anyone else.

      3. My punning skill is limited. Once and a while, I come up with a good one, but Bruce continues to keep up the family tradition.

  2. Here’s hoping it will be all routine. It is very common to use antiseptic soap the night before and morning of surgery now. Randy even had to use his for 3 days before one surgery. Prevention is the way to go. I will keep you in mind on the 6th, as I am sure your other followers will also. All the best to you and for you, and Bruce!

    1. I really like the idea of doing what I can to prevent infection. I just hadn’t used antiseptic soap before surgery, but it seems like a great idea. It has been about 8 years since I last had surgery.

    1. Thank you for your support. I look forward to getting past the surgery and recovery. I plan to try and enjoy taking it easy. Resting and walking, napping and walking, reading and walking, blogging and walking, telling Bruce what to do! 😁

  3. Facing surgery is always scary!!! But you have Bruce to comfort and support you and that’s a big, big deal. Unless, of course, he decides he’d rather play with his lawn mower and mess with the ‘Bama Dirt, in which case you’re out of luck. 😈 We’re all pulling for you, Julia!

    1. Thank you for your support. Bruce has been playing with the big toy we bought last Tuesday. We now have a tractor, Stanley Shovel! He has been playing with it by moving Bama Dirt and digging out a stump. This has kept us both entertained and helped me not think about surgery as much. I am getting more nervous 😬 as the surgery gets closer, but I have been assured by several people who have had their gallbladder out that it was a great decision. I take comfort in all the support I am getting.
