Getting the Drawing of Juneau Framed and Buying a Car

December 10, 2025

Today (Wednesday December 10), we went to Florence, AL to get “Juneau in Wild Sunflowers” framed. I brought the stunning glass picture, my friend, Jeanne from aneanneinthekitchen.com, gave me for Christmas.

I wanted a small frame around the glass picture with chains so it can be hung in front of the window. With light behind the glass picture, it glows so beautifully.

After I (with Bruce expressing his opinion) picked out matting and frames, we decided to look at cars.

We drove to the VW dealership. The dealership was low-key and let us look around the lot without salesmen bugging us the whole time. A salesman offered to help. Bruce told him we just wanted to look around the lot but we’d like a card in case we saw something we liked. The salesman gave Bruce his card and headed in where it was warm. It was very windy which made it feel colder.

We found a Jetta we liked, got the salesman, and took it on a test drive.

It drove very much like the beloved Jetta I sold when we downsized for our full-time RVing adventure. It was also the same bright red that I love.

We bought the car!!!

We let Nox try out the back seat. We want her to get used to the car. She did a lot of sniffing.

We called her name, so she turned to look at us. She got comfortable and wanted to go for a ride. Nox wasn’t happy when Bruce took her out of the car.

I updated the insurance company. We plan to get tags tomorrow.

A very expensive and exciting day.

  1. Congratulations on all you got done! Sometimes I think it’s better to make a purchase like that quickly so you don’t torture yourself with overthinking. (BTW, What happened to Clifford?)

How long do you have to wait to get the framed artwork back?

      1. You are welcome! The dealers are trying to get rid of inventory to reduce their taxes. Businesses are often taxed by their inventory at the end of the year. They also need to make room for the next year’s models. The last quarter of the year is a good time to buy this year’s models as they need to make room for next year’s models.

  2. So…don’t keep us waiting…what is your car’s name? A girl name, I bet. Parked next to Clifford it will look like a nice red father/daughter ensemble. Your next drawing assignment, perhaps? I was relieved to see that Nox had a voice in the purchase, even if it was just one of affirmation after the fact.
