Friday (October 31), was a beautiful clear day. The song “Sweet Home Alabama” said it well: “Sweet home Alabama, where the skies are so blue.” The leaves are changing to their fall colors.

On Saturday (November 1), I got up at sunrise since Nox needed to go out.

The clouds were back later in the day. More fall colors were showing.

Nox wandered around the backyard, doing Nox things.

I brought in a little more than half the sweet potatoes from the shed. I wrapped the unblemished ones in newspaper. Once wrapped, I put the sweet potatoes in cardboard boxes with holes cut in the sides. Sweet potatoes are living plants and they need to breathe. I left the split sweet potatoes in a 5-gallon bucket to be used soon. I will transfer them to a cardboard box so I don’t have to worry about them.
I tried two new sweet potato recipes using split sweet potatoes. I made baked sweet potato chips and baked sweet potato fries. I was pleased with how well the recipes came out.
I emptied the basil from the dehydrator trays into a quart freezer bag. I had unplugged the dehydrator earlier.
I love those foggy mornings too!

As a kid, rounding up the cows to milk before school was my chore. I loved the thick fog and how it would cling to the spider webs. I remember one morning looking up into the trees and seeing what appeared to be fairyland. The fog was just thick enough to leave dew drops on the spider webs and the sun was breaking through the fog, making the dew drops shimmer. It was spectacular!
