Taking It Easy

October 1, 2025

Bruce and I slept most of Sunday (September 28) away. We did go for a walk around Blackberry Homestead in the late afternoon.

Sunday night to Monday morning (September 29), Nox decided to keep me up most of the night with her whining and fussing. I don’t know what was wrong with her. I took her outside, watched her eat, petted her, and gave her a treat. Sometimes she just feels bad.

In taking Nox outside, I saw Venus touching the top of the pine tree in the back pasture. It looked like a Christmas tree star.

As I watched Nox, I kept checking the sunrise and Venus. Nox was outside from 6:12 am to 6:23 am.

Nox finally stopped her fussing for the night and I got to sleep. I slept until 11:00 am, which didn’t make up for my missing sleep.

Bruce got up while I slept and went outside to do some more chainsaw work on pine tree two.

He hooked the cart to the mower and he moved several carts of logs. These logs will go at the base of the new tall garden bed we are planning to build.

Since I don’t have a picture of the sunset, I’ll leave you with a picture of the red pineapple.

  1. I like the red pineapple. I looked it up after you posted an earlier picture. I suspect Bruce will be glad to finish with the tree cutting! I am so behind on my yard work we may need to hire someone to catch it up. I hope Nox is better soon–they do have their down days.

      1. Oh, well mine take about 45 minutes and I do it to stop the pain in my right thigh and to strengthen them. Often I do them through YouTube videos but the VA send me to a wonderful PT in the area , so I do them at home. It is only about 15 minutes or so the office with lots of people. I can go anytime but I just do them at home now.

      2. Well, to tell you the truth…this being retired is lovely. I have gotten two tentative offers to return to work but I like being at home just fine. I like being around the home, being there for the husband and the pugs, working on my novel and everything when I feel like. It is wonderful!

      3. I love being retired as well! I doing my artwork, working in the yard and gardening, and writing my blog. I enjoy cooking when I am not exhausted from working outside.
