On May 30 (Friday), I had PT. After PT, Bruce and I tried out a restaurant in a historic neighborhood in East Florence, AL. We enjoyed our lunch at Ray’s at the Bank. I had the Roundabout Burger. It was so messy and delicious! Bruce had the lunch special, which was a prime rib roast beef sandwich. He enjoyed very much. We’ll be back!
We stopped at Porter Garden Center and bought a large rosemary plant and four more blueberry bushes.
Once we got home, we walked around Blackberry Homestead.

I still have no idea what the big bulbs with lots of long leaves are. I thought they were amaryllis, but they didn’t bloom, so I don’t know what they are. The leaves have all died back.
On Saturday (May 31), I turned the $1.99 plastic serving bowls I found at Walmart into flower pots. I wanted to move the mints from the trough, as they were taking it over.

With the mints transplanted into the very inexpensive flower pots, I unloaded the plants from the truck and transplanted the new rosemary plant into the trough. Once the rosemary plant was in place, it took up so much space. I felt I needed to move some of the other plants around. I had space since the mints were gone. I moved the thyme, little rosemary plant and sage. The thyme was moved to the opposite corner of the trough. The little rosemary plant and sage were moved over and towards the side of the trough.

Bruce removed side branches on large branches from downed pine tree number three with his Kaiser blade.
We did some more clean up on the barn, getting rid of termite infested wood and cardboard. Bruce decided to put his burn barrel to use over a stump and burn the infested materials.
Nox watched us from the top of the driveway.

We let the fire burn out. After supper, we sat out on the porch and watched the sunset and the moon.
The sun was so enchanting, I got out of the rocking chair and walked around to get the best pictures. The two sunset pictures were taken from different spots in the front yard. The fireflies blinked on and off across the front yard, producing a magical effect underneath the red sun. The moon was very orange, but the orange doesn’t show in the picture.

The cold front that came through brought the smoke from the Canada wildfires. The high altitude smoke has turned the sun red. I am grateful the smoke is high up and not down here with me. I am truly sorry for our neighbors to the north who are having to deal with the wildfires. I hope for a good rain to put the fires out.
Wow, what a sun! We’re predicted to get smoke too, but so far it hasn’t arrived. I have a northern friend whose family is under mandatory evacuation. The transport buses are so full that they are telling people to leave their pets. I can’t see that going over very well.
How was PT this week? I hope there was no pain. (Well, any more than necessary. 😝)
How many blueberry plants do you have now? Are you planning a side business selling fruit and jams?

Oh, I just can’t imagine how awful it would be to have to leave your pets behind.
It was fine today. I went in hurting and the physical therapist poked and prodded me until I felt better.
We now have 16 blueberry bushes. I love blueberries and if I have too many, I’ll just have to see if a neighbor wants some. I was thinking smoothies with all the berries.

Gives a new meaning to “red sun.” Smoke to the north, Sahara dust to the south, and here we are in the middle.

Yes, indeed! We are going to be lucky to be able to breathe with all the airborne particles.

It might stay closer to the coast on the dust, but they started clearing more trees across the woods from us again today, and it is stirring up all kinds of things besides noise.

I am sorry to hear they are clearing more trees and all sorts of things are being stirred up. I hope you don’t have an allergic reaction to the airborne particles and molds.

By the way, I am just so impressed with your homesteading and gardening. I did at least do some cleanup in the yard today.

Thank you! I am enjoying it so far, except for the floods and high winds. The heat and humidity are starting to settle in.
I do enjoy your projects. You do such incredible research projects.

Sure! You can help us try out our new chipper! Or you and I can go do fun things and leave Bruce behind to work.
