Starting to Clean Out the Shed

May 15, 2025

I realized I forgot to mention that we started to clean out the shed yesterday (Wednesday, May 14).

The barn is attached to the shed. I believe the shed was built around the same time as the house. The barn was clearly added on later. The shed wall sticks into the barn a little ways.

We pulled the one of the large Colbert county trash cans to door of the shed. Bruce put the contractor bag into the trash can. The bag didn’t want to stay up. We filled the bag full of junk and decided to call it a good start.

There is broken glass we need to deal with as well as a couple of rugs.

The concrete floor is beyond dirty. We’ll have to wear dust masks when cleaning it up. The roof and walls have old wasps nests and dirt douber aka mud douber aka mud wasp nest.

I want to paint the walls white or some other light color. The walls will have to be scrubbed before painting can happen.

Sadly, I didn’t think to take a before picture. I’ll include the still very scary after pictures of what is left to do after the work we did.

    1. I am a bit afraid (okay, very afraid 😱) to find out what is under them. I am guessing the rugs got worn out and were going to be tossed. I can almost imagine the man of the house saying, “Let me have the rugs so I have some cushioning when I am standing in the shed.”
