Pictures of Work Bruce Did with Chainsawing Yesterday

April 17, 2025

While rambling about the back pasture, I took some pictures of the tree that had been part of the three tree trunk tree. (Say that three times fast!)

Bruce spent a lot of time chainsawing to cut the trunk at the fence.

I had PT today and afterwards, I didn’t feel like doing much. My shoulder and back had been hurting some before PT, but afterwards, they really weren’t happy. My physical therapist had me take it easy today since I overdid yesterday, but it still hurts. I look forward to being on the other side of PT.

When we arrived home, there was a box from Stark’s Brothers waiting for me! The Sparkspur(R) Arkansas Black apple tree, a Garden Delight miniature nectarine, a Honey Babe miniature peach, Stark (R) Saturn semi-dwarf peach and six Heritage red raspberry bushes had arrived.

I opened up the box and all the plants looked good.

After resting for a bit, we went out the front door to go check on the pecan seedlings I had planted. One has leafed out and the other is budding out.

We walked along the fence line on the south side of the property to look at the grape vines. The poison ivy has taken over almost all of the south fence. Ugh! I know who has more poison ivy pulling in her future.

On a happier note, the grapes have leafed out and I see some very small flowers starting. Fingers crossed that we will get some grapes!

We walked to the gardens and looked at them. I should be able to harvest the outer leaves of my Komatsuna (Japanese) greens. My Florida broadleaf mustard greens are getting close to being ready to harvest.

We walked back to the house. I went outside to fill up the bird feeder with sunflower seeds and discovered another package. Our seed potatoes and Pink Lemonade blueberry bushes arrived.

I’ve got a lot of hole digging in my future!

    1. Unfortunately, I don’t know how long they will last. No exercises yet, since the physical therapist is concerned I will hurt myself. He wants me to exercise in a controlled environment until he feels I have built up enough strength to exercise at home.

      1. When I reach forward and slightly down at close range for about 20 minutes, my back will start hurting. After 30 minutes, I am in extreme pain on the left side of my back from my shoulder down to midway down my back. Riding the motorcycle or cooking for a while and doing dishes, I get the same pain. With cooking, at least I can usually take a breaks.
When I drove back from Colorado, after 4 hours, I was in extreme pain. I drove home the rest of the way in extreme pain. It took us 2 1/2 days to get home. The last day, I wasn’t sure I was going to make it. Once the pain hits, it takes a few days for every motion involving the back to stop hurting. Once I get over the pain, I can generally do whatever, as long as I don’t reach forward for long periods of time. The PT is to help me be able to ride on the back of the motorcycle, cook and wash dishes and drive long distances without pain.
