If You Don’t Like Snakes, Don’t Open This Post Since It Is About a Snake Visit

On Saturday (April 5), Bruce noticed a fairly long rat snake (a little over 4 feet) near the garage. It was coming into our yard from our neighbor’s pasture. Bruce was mowing at the time when he first spotted the snake. When Bruce brought in two of the mower batteries to be charged, he mentioned the snake to me.

After Bruce was done mowing for the day, he put away the mower and walked around the yard to see if he could spot the snake. The snake was on the front porch. Bruce came in and told me about the snake.

I went out the front door to see the snake.

See the lump? He’s got something in his belly.

Bruce followed the snake as it slowly moved off our porch. He took a lot of pictures and even video of the snake. According to Bruce, it tried to figure out how to get under our house, but couldn’t. It then tried to “talk” to the water hose. I am not sure what Bruce meant by that and I don’t want to know.

Once the snake was away from the house, the mocking birds were unhappy. They flew at Bruce and the snake. The snake made it over to our neighbors’ on the south side of Blackberry Homestead.

Bruce stopped tracking it at that time.
