Pi Day and Herbs Arrive Today!

March 14, 2024

I realized I didn’t take a picture of the heeled in apple and peach whips, waiting to be planted. I took two pictures today to share.

We got the RV’s replacement theater seating switch in the mail today. Bruce went to the RV and replaced the switch. He was happy to report the theater seating was working. He also replaced batteries for the propane monitor. There were a couple of other items he did, but I don’t recall what they were.

While Bruce was gone, I put together the bookcase that arrived yesterday. I filled it with books; I even opened another box of books. I don’t think there are anymore boxes of books left. There are a few spots left for some additional books, but not many.

While I was assembling the bookcase, I saw UPS pull up. He was delivering my herb plants. I retrieved the herb plants from the front porch and opened the box. I read the instructions. Following the instructions, I removed the herb plants from the box and their protective sleeves. I placed them next to the sliding back door. I am supposed to wait a few days before planting the herbs. I’ll start hardening them off on Sunday, since a major storm is predicted for Saturday night.

Bruce came back home in time to see the bookcase being filled with books. He liked the placement, which was good since I didn’t want to move the bookcase.

I took a picture and realized some of the DeRubeis artwork was also in the picture. I decided to get pictures of the rest of the DeRubeis artwork.

DeRubeis artwork looks different from different points and how the light shines on it.

While Bruce was on a Zoom call with family, I planted Sugar Snap peas, Early Frosty English peas and Japanese mustard spinach (Komatsuna).

Bruce walked around Blackberry Homestead showing his family the property using the phone. He came across me planting peas. I heard his family call out, “Hi Julia!”

I’ve been working on our taxes. Ugh! I usually do them a lot sooner, but with my mother’s passing last year, I’ve been waiting on some forms. I decided to do what I can, so when the additional forms arrive, I’ll be ready.

Since today was Pi Day, I made a deep dish pizza. Bruce raved about this pie.

Celebrating Pi Day

I just hope it reheats well. We ate half of it, so there is half left for another meal.

Updated to add a picture of the herb plants.

  1. I didn’t even think about Pi Day until I started seeing posts today. Sigh. Not that I would have made one, but at least I would have considered it! It’s fun seeing the diversity of pies people choose. Probably mine would have been quiche, given where I am and what I have access to, and the preferences of my host…
