Installed a Glass Backsplash Between Cooktop and Hood

Yesterday, Bruce and I installed a one piece glass backsplash behind the cooktop.

I had selected a few I liked on Amazon and let Bruce pick out the one he liked from them. This way Bruce wasn’t overwhelmed by the different choices and I knew I would like anything he picked. Once he picked out the backsplash, I let him place the order.

The tempered glass backsplash arrived safely packed in its box, well wrapped to prevent breaking.

I didn’t document the unboxing or the install. It was incredibly easy to install.

Earlier in the day, I had throughly cleaned the wall behind the stove top. The wall needed to be completely dry when we did the install or the backsplash wouldn’t stick.

I put a towel on the stove top to prevent any damage to the stove top glass in case the backsplash slipped. Bruce set the backsplash face down on the towel.

The back of the backsplash had four pieces of tape running from top to bottom, with an inch or so from the top and bottom. It came with a fast drying silicone adhesive to put between the strips of tape.

We did a dry install to determine how it looked best to us. Once we decided how it looked best, we moved to the actual installation. I added the silicone adhesive between the strips of tape. Bruce and I peeled the covering from the tape. Bruce carefully picked up the backsplash and pressed it against the wall.

All done!

The new backsplash has added some much needed color to my all white kitchen. The floor does have some streaks of grey and gold in it, so the backsplash and floor complement each other.
