Clearing Out Privet Bushes and Removing a Fence

December 14, 2024

Yesterday (December 13), we decided to tackle the corner with fenced trees. I wanted to bring this part of the back pasture into the main backyard. It would bring trees into to backyard.

I took some before and after pictures

Yesterday, Bruce started by using a Kaiser blade to cut through the privet, blackberry canes, and honeysuckle.

I picked up sticks until Bruce was ready to let me use the Kaiser blade.

Once Bruce was sure I knew how to use the Kaiser blade, he started removing the clips holding the fence wire to the metal t-post.

He removed almost all the wire clips. Some were hidden by dirt.

Today, Bruce tacked removing the wire and metal t-post. I took the clippers with me and cut off the honeysuckle wrapped around the fence wire. I also cut down blackberry canes growing next to the fence.

Bruce enjoyed using his new tool, a fence post puller.

We also discovered a chain wrapped around two trees. It looks like one of the trees is dead.

I moved a pile of boards out of treed area and put them in the lawn.

We even rescued an outdoor table.

Bruce ran the mower through the trees.

It was a lot of hard work, but I am proud of how nice it looks now.

At some point, I know I’ll be pulling poison ivy off the trees.
