Last night, I received an automated text message from Home Depot about the washer and dryer delivery.
The window for delivery was 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM today. I was excited about the delivery and let Bruce know the washer and dryer were scheduled to arrive tomorrow (today).
This morning, I got up and cleaned out the laundry room. I vacuumed and then mopped it. I also cleaned out the dryer vent. It was filthy, so I am glad I took the time to clean it out.

I looked at the light fixture hanging in the breakfast nook and decided it might get in the way. I grabbed a carabiner to hook the light fixture to the top link in the chain. I put the step-stool under the light and discovered a carabiner was holding the light to the chain and another carabiner was holding the chain to the hanger loop. I just hooked the bottom chain carabiner to the hanger loop. It was out of the way.

At 8:43 AM, the delivery driver called to let me know they were on their way and it would be 15 to 20 minutes before they arrived.
I texted Bruce to let him know the delivery would be soon. I put Nox and her bed in our bedroom to get her out of the way.
The installers arrived and I showed them where the washer and dryer go.
One of the installers added the tubing to the dryer vent. The other one got the appliances and pedestals onto the truck lift.
Surprisingly, they installed the dryer first, then the washer.

I thanked the installers and wished them a good day. As they drove down the driveway, I went to get Nox from the bedroom.
Poor little Nox had been sick. I decided to wash her blanket as the first load in the new washer and dryer.
I didn’t have any detergent, so I drove to the Dollar General store to buy some detergent. I made a mistake and got the Arm & Hammer detergent. I didn’t realize it had fragrance in it. I started the first load and went to the Foodland (right next to the Dollar General) to buy fragrance free detergent.
When I got home, the first load had finished. I put the blanket into the dryer. The dryer wouldn’t turn on. I guessed the power wasn’t working to the dryer outlet. That turned out to be the case.

Ugh! I almost cried! I was right; there is no power into that outlet.
Tomorrow, I am going to the RV to do laundry.
I am bummed, very bummed about the dryer not working.
disappointing that the installers did not check to make sure both washer and dryer would work!

Yes, it was. I was more upset with the home inspector for not catching the dryer outlet didn’t work.

that wasn’t the only thing they missed, was it? Is there a way to rate home inspectors?

No, it wasn’t the only thing they missed. I don’t know of a way to rate home inspectors other than the review on Google.

They usually miss some things đŸ˜¦ My daughter had the same experience yesterday with a new fridge. It wasn’t working and she found the outlet stopped working. It looks like the GFI in the kitchen popped, so if you have an outlet with a gfi nearby it’s worth checking.

No such luck. I also checked the 220 breakers in the panel to make sure it hadn’t flipped. That would’ve been an easy solution.

Ugh, I hope it’s an easy fix!

Me too. I just don’t feel brave enough to tackle electrical problems. If Bruce was here, I am sure he’d have it resolved or at least he’d know what needs to be done. He enjoys electrical work, but since this is on an outside wall, he may not enjoy the attic visit.

Ooh, a foot of space between the appliances and the wall…a great place for dust bunnies! (Seriously, I hope this is resolved soon so you don’t have to resort to a clothesline in the winter.)

Me too! I remember those days. I was just so grateful to have a washer and not having to carry my daughter and the laundry to the laundry mat. Once the weather turned cold, the close line didn’t work as well. For some reason, it never worked when it rained. đŸ˜†

đŸ˜†. If your shower curtain is sturdy, you could always hang a few things there!

Bummer! Everything went so well until the end.

It was a bummer. I had been so excited. Finally, all appliances were bought. I was really happy the drains were fixed so I could use the washing machine. I didn’t even consider that the dryer outlet wouldn’t have electricity. Sigh!

I would be so bummed too, both about the detergent with fragrance in it, and then about the dryer outlet. I hope you get the outlet working sooner rather than later.
