Empanada Express Grill in Denver, CO

July 9, 2024

On July 3 (last Wednesday), we rode the motorcycle to Empanada Express Grill on 44th Avenue in Denver.

Empanada Express Grill serves Venezuelan cuisine. We’ve eaten at Empanada Express Grill for years and they have the best empanadas I’ve ever had. The crust is crisp as you bite through it, then a little bit soft with a wonderful corn flavor. The many different fillings are delicious.

I love their arepas, the crisp crust, the soft interior, delicious corn flavor and the scrumptious fillings. (My mouth is starting to water as I think about how delicious these are.)The arepas come with the same fillings as the empanadas.

The appetizers are delicious; I especially love the cachapas (corn pancakes with cheese). The fried sweet plantains with cheese are soft and sweet, with shredded cheese providing a bit of saltiness.

The hallacas (Venezuelan tamal) comes wrapped in a banana leaf. I love it with the creamy sauces they put on the table.

You can tell how much I love the food at Empanada Express Grill. I could go on about other items on the menu, but I am going to stop here.

The parking is on the street and we lucked out, finding a spot on Stuart Street and 44th Avenue.

I ordered the Taste of Venezuela plate; it has one empanada, one arepa, tequenos, pcachapas, and sweet plantains. It really is enough for two people. I shared the appetizers with Bruce.

Before we left, I ordered a bag of P•A•N.

I will use it to make arepas and empanadas.

Afterwards, we rode to a local park, which will be another post.
