Rolling to Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in Macon, Georgia

May 30, 2024

Since we needed to be at Jekyll Island Campground on May 1, we left Scenic Drive RV Campground just outside of Oxford, Alabama on April 24 and headed to Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in Macon, Georgia.

This is a lovely state park. Each campsite had a picnic table and a fire ring. The section near the lake had full hookups (electricity, water and sewer), while the rest of the sites did not have sewer. They limited the full hookup sites to seven days. There is a lot to see and do in the state park, from beaches, swimming, boating, trails, frisbee golf, and a butterfly garden.

This campground is also where I had a bad fall.

    1. The name of the lake comes from the Tobesofkee Creek that was dammed to make the lake. The name is in the Muskogee language spoken by the Creek Indians who lived in the area. “Sofkee” means a hominy dish, but it isn’t known what the name means.
