Pictures from Dry Creek Water Park in Mt Olive, Mississippi

March 23, 2024

Dry Creek Water Park is a beautiful pine wooded park, with butterflies flitting underneath the pine trees. We saw a few dragonflies and moths as well. We even spotted one firefly.

At sunset, the fish would jump up from the lake, splashing down into the water reflecting the pinks, purples, oranges, and reds of the sunset.

Wednesday night (March 20), we had a campfire.

The park has hiking trails through the woods, as well as a mountain bike trail.

There is a $2 a night discount for senior citizens (55+) for campers. The park also is available for day use as well.

It was restful and peaceful while we were there. We enjoyed hiking,’the campfire and talking to a few other campers.

  1. I loved all the flora–I have most of those in my yard, and pretty sure I never knew what a bluet or a violet was until I move here. Did the fire ants hunker down, or run amok?

      1. Oh no, no no no no no! They aren’t fun at all. I think every child born where the fire ants hunt has at least one horror story dealing with fire ants.

  2. Love the flowers and the insects, especially that Luna moth. Spring has certainly arrived here as well with the snowdrops, crocus, wild anenomes and a lot of birdsong. It must be really warm there!

    1. It wasn’t as warm as I expected. We had a freeze (29 F) overnight one of the nights we were there. We had to run the furnace almost every night!
